How to Choose the Right Milk Frothing Jug

Achieving the perfect microfoam for a flat white, latte, or cappuccino requires the right tools. When selecting a milk pitcher, our Auckland barista training team recommends focusing on three key factors:

  • Size Matters: For a single standard flat white (around 150ml–200ml), a 350ml (or 450ml) jug is ideal. If you are steaming milk for two coffees at once, step up to a 600ml or 750ml pitcher.

  • Spout Shape for Latte Art: If you love pouring intricate latte art, the spout design is critical. A classic round spout (like the Motta Europa) is excellent for traditional hearts and tulips, while a sharper spout (like Rhino Coffee Gear) allows for ultra-fine details like rosettas.

  • Material and Coating: Standard stainless steel offers great thermal conductivity, allowing you to feel the temperature of the milk with your hand. If you prefer a modern aesthetic or a non-stick surface that is incredibly easy to rinse, explore our range of Teflon and colored milk jugs.
